Dr. Julia Jacobs-LeVan, MD, M.Sc., Director, Pediatric Epilepsy Program, Alberta Children’s Hospital

Dr Julia Jacobs is the current Director of the Paediatric Epilepsy Program at Alberta Children’s Hospital. She is an Associate Professor affiliated with the Department of Pediatrics and Clinical Neuroscience at the University of Calgary.

She is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Freiburg, Germany, where she was the Director of the Department of Paediatric Neurology and Muscular Disease at the University Medical Centre Freiburg before coming to Calgary in Fall 2019.

Dr Jacobs’ research aims to improve the diagnostic tools in patients with epilepsy and provide patients with refractory epilepsy with new treatment options. In Germany, she conducted the first trail for synthetic Cannabidiol (CBD) in children with refractory epilepsy. She has also published several surveys that assess the experience of physicians and caregivers with CBD.

Dr Jacobs is a Director on the Board of the Calgary Epilepsy Association.
